Terms & Conditions – St Edmunds Guest House, Paignton:
A non-refundable deposit to the value of the first night’s stay (taken on receipt of the booking confirmation) is required to secure a booking. It can be made by cash, card transaction or cheque (to be received at least seven days before the first day of the booking). Reservations are confirmed once a deposit has been received. Reservations are personal between the booker and St Edmunds Guest House ONLY and can in no case be transferred to a third party, whether free, at a cost, or for commercial purposes.
All accounts must be settled upon, or prior to, arrival by cash or card transaction.
Rooms are available from 3pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. Luggage may be left if an early arrival or later departure is required and, where possible, we will be happy to make alternative arrangements outside these times – please let us know your preferred times.
St Edmunds Guest House is STRICTLY NO SMOKING /SMOKING SUBSTITUTES throughout. If we believe that this has taken place in the house a £50.00 charge will be made to the room and the occupants will be asked to leave without any refund.
The use of any naked flames (candles etc.) is strictly forbidden. If found, any such item will be removed from the guest room immediately and a note left explaining this.
We reserve the right to refuse to accommodate any person who, in our reasonable opinion, is not suitable. In such cases all charges will be refunded minus (if appropriate) any booking commission.
We request that all guests are considerate towards the other guests. Televisions and radios etc. should, at the very least, be quiet by 12 midnight. We will not tolerate any illegal activity, drugs, excessive drinking, partying (which disturbs neighbours and other guests) and you are responsible for any friends you bring over. All guests are encouraged to operate in a spirit of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness and temperance (slow to anger).
Please note that we do not accept responsibility for any damage, howsoever caused, to guests vehicles whilst parking or on site.
Guests arriving unannounced: Extra guests (including children) arriving at St Edmunds without prior notice and who are not on the original booking information will be charged at the full adult rate, subject to the availability to accommodate them.
No extra beds are available. Certain rooms can accommodate cots. Other than where a cot has been requested, no extra occupancy will be allowed. No refund will be made to bookings made where extra, unannounced guests/children cannot be accommodated. If, as a result, a booking is cancelled, the entire booking will be charged to the card details supplied at the time of the booking reservation.
St Edmunds reserves the right to refuse access to such a booking where all of the party cannot be accommodated. In the event of this happening, the entire booking will be charged to the card details supplied at the time of the booking reservation.
Dogs/Pets: Dogs/Pets are admitted ONLY by prior arrangement. Pets are not charged for but guests should be aware that we reserve the right to charge the pets’ owner for the full cost of any repair/damage or professional cleaning that may be required. Please be advised that we will not accommodate snakes.
Please note that we do not permit your dog to be left unsupervised – pets should be out with their owners and not left in guest rooms for an extended period of time (other than at meal times).
In deference to other guests, we do not allow pets in the dining room at meal times. However, we do have an alternative option for unsettled pets – breakfast may be taken in the porch / conservatory with their owners.
It would be nice for your pet if owners brought their own bowls and bedding and then they would feel at home. We do have a garden which they can use, we do ask that you tidy up after your pet. We no longer have a dog of our own but we do like to make a fuss of visiting dogs.
Can the pet sleep in the room?
Can the dog come with us into the dining room?
Not at meal times.
Is the garden escape proof (some dogs like to run off)?
No. The walls are not high enough to prevent dogs jumping over them.
Cancellation policy: The card holder is responsible for full payment of this booking and, in accepting this booking, the card holder gives authorisation for the card to be charged for full payment of this booking if it is cancelled within 48 hours of date of the booking or for a ‘no show’. Cancellations of online bookings must be made through the company involved. Please note that any cancellation will incur a minimum administration fee of £10.00 GBP.
Modification policy: If you do need to amend your booking please contact us by telephone and we will do our best to make the necessary changes. However, if it is not possible then our cancellation policy will apply.
Guests amending bookings within 7 days of the scheduled check-in time, or on the date of arrival, and as a result, cancel any room night with less than 7 days’ notice, the full cost of the accommodation or service will be levied.
We may need and record your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number when you make a booking and validate card payment. We do not share your details with any third party except where we are legally required to do so. Your information is stored securely on our electric electronic systems for no longer than 12 months following your stay it may be stored longer in our paper diary. We have never done, or expect to do, any e-mail marketing. If we were to, we will only contact you for marketing purposes with your express consent. You can ask us to remove your details at any time and we will do this unless we are legally required to keep that information longer.
The Immigration (Hotel Records) order 1972 (as amended) requires that we keep a record of your full name and nationality. We also have to keep a record of your passport number, place of issue and details of your next destination is known for guests who are not British, Irish or Commonwealth citizens. These records must be kept for at least 12 months and will be available for inspection by a police officer or a duly authorised person.
Wifi: Wifi is provided free of charge and all users are logged for the duration of their stay. If, however, the use of the internet, is deemed to be suspicious or illegal and/or the download exceeds that allowed by the ISP, we reserve the right to terminate the connection.
Damage: Please be advised that any breakages or damage in room will need to be paid for. The holder of the card details used to pay for the accommodation wiill be contacted and the card details used to pay for the room(s) will be charged for the cleaning and/or the replacement costs.
Theft: Should we find that any items have been stolen we will automatically notify the Police and we will reclaim the costs.
There is a 175mm (7 inch) step into the guest-house with a further two 100mm (4 inch) steps to access the main building. There is no access for a powered wheelchair. Mobility ‘scooters’ (Max. 2) may be stored inside for security and charging.
Ground floor rooms are available as is the dining room, the most narrow corridor is 900mm (3 feet) wide, the staircase to the first floor bedroom is 1050mm (3 foot 6 inches) wide.
We are making efforts to ensure that we don’t exclude any users.
